Welcome to CondorTag, a citizen science project by Friends of California Condors Wild and Free. Our goal with this project is to engage the public in organizing a unique collection of over 14,000 digitized images from the early days of the Condor Recovery Program.

These images offer a rare glimpse into the program’s history, featuring California condors in various stages of their recovery—soaring in flight, perched, being trapped, undergoing medical care, getting released, and much more. You'll also discover photos of their habitat, from natural landscapes to constructed spaces designed for their protection and survival, along with key moments of fieldwork and conservation efforts.

By helping us tag these images with relevant keywords, you’ll make this valuable resource accessible to researchers, conservation partners, and the general public. Your contributions will enable faster and more efficient searches, furthering the cause of condor conservation.

Join us in this exciting effort, and enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the groundbreaking work that has helped bring California condors back from the brink of extinction. Thank you for being a part of CondorTag!
